Our Crazy Crawler: December 22nd, 2011

Our little mover finally started crawling! Once she figured it out she just took off, but only with a little motivation (cell phones, remote controls, all the stuff she isn't supposed to play with!). Within a couple of days after this, she figured out how to pull herself to stand, and now there is no sacred table space in my house anymore. Somehow, she can reach EVERYTHING! So, we spent some time on New Years doing a wee bit of babyproofing...you know, sharp objects, chemicals, things of that nature :) I'm hoping that soon she figures out how to lower herself from standing gracefully, but for now she just falls hard and scares the crap out of her Mama & Dada!

End to an Era: Goodbye Helmet, Hello 2012!

We finally got the clearance from the doctor last week to remove the "cranial remolding orthoses". The helmet is DONE! All in all it was a success, and her results were worth the 4 months of torture. We were supposed to celebrate the New Year up in Big Sky with our good friends Lindsey & Ryan and their 3 month old, Hadley, but Kyrie came down with a 103.8 fever on Thursday and Dada got sick as well, so we ended up ringing it in at home. We actually had a great night. I made king crab legs, scallops, salad, and a chocolate mousse cake and we pigged out and played a board game and cuddled up by the fire. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Happy 1st New Year!

She's even happy when shes sick!

Kyrie spent her 1st xmas at Grandma & Grandpa Kolars house. It was an amazing day! We woke up and Santa had spoiled all of us with our stockings. Kyrie got to open her presents with her cousin, Jaxon, and really they were both more interested in the wrapping paper and boxes and each other (which is why I only got her a couple of shirts this year)! Plus, all of her Grandmas & Grandpas and Aunties and Uncles spoiled her to death. Cousin Lauren, who was also born very close to Ky and Jax came over later and the 3 babies had a blast playing together on all of their 1st Christmases :) We had another very special "Kreepy Kolar Gift Exchange" and the black cat returned, along with some nasty new additions that I'm sure we'll see again next year! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Cousin Jax Visiting: November 23rd, 2011

Jaspur's sister Jessi, her fiance Casey, and cousin Jaxon stopped to stay a night on their way through town for Thanksgiving. Kyrie & Jax had a blast playing together, and I think we had even more fun watching them!

A Tribute to Our Grammies

Our last visit with Grammy Ann
Our last visit with Grammy Evalyn
December has been a very tough month for our families. I lost my Grandma Evalyn on the 5th, and Jaspur lost his Grandma Ann on the 13th. They were both amazing ladies and held a solid place in our lives. We are both grateful that they each had the chance to meet Kyrie, and sure wish that she could have spent more time getting to know them. I'm sure as the years go on, we will continue to notice little things about Ky that remind us of our Grammies :)

Knee Surgery #5: November 16th, 2011

Yep, I had to have another surgery. The good news is that I got 2 weeks off of work and was able to spend a lot of extra time at home with Kyrie!  We had some fantastic time together playing on the floor with my ice packs. We'll see how things go, but I'm hoping to be hitting the slopes by the end of January and ready to go for spring soccer (I know a decent PT who will whip me back into shape!)...
